Transportation

What are the transit options between Center St and Harrison Square? 
Today, you can travel between the buildings via Line 17. The closest westbound stop (Center to Harrison) is on Lincoln and 1st, a few blocks south of Harrison. The closest eastbound stop (Harrison to Center) is right across the street, on the 200 block of Lincoln, but it's closed due to PMLR construction right now. The stop on 5th and Harrison is probably your best bet until that stop reopens.
In 2015, of course, MAX will connect the two locations!

Out and About

Where do I park when attending meetings at Holladay?
Of course, there are a variety of options for TriMet service to these buildings, however, if you are using a TriMet pool vehicle ( with E plates), you may park in any metered location for the length of time allowed by that meter. For example if the meter limits parking to 1 hour, then you may only park there for one hour. You do not need to put money in the meter.

Is there parking for NRVs at Harrison Square and Holladay?
Yes,  those vehicles who have been assigned to those locations by the NRV department may park in the lots designated for those vehicles, vehicles, who have home bases at other locations may not park in those spaces, as there are only enough spaces for the assigned vehicles and at HSQ, the vehicles require a monthly hanging tag.

What if I need my personal vehicle for business purposes?
The HR manual has specific language about reimbursement for using a personal vehicle. Recent discussions with finance have confirmed that reimbursement for a personal vehicle will only occur if the employee is required to transport equipment and there is no pool vehicles available.  Under those circumstances, you must complete a reimbursement form and your manager or director must approve.  The cost center is the same cost center as the employee’s salary as this is clearly a responsibility as a result of their job.

How do I gain access to the bike locker at Harrison Square?
The bike locker will be accessed with your employee badge.  TriMet staff wishing to have badge access to the enclosure should contact Kathy Daniels, TriMet Security, by email (DanielsK@trimet.org), and include your name and badge number.

Is there any option for parking pure electric (not hybrid) vehicles?
There are no charging stations or free electric car parking spots at Harrison Square.

Yes.

Will there be parking at Harrison for guests?
Yes, visitor parking is available in the Harrison parking garage for a fee.  TriMet does not reimburse parking expenses for visitors.  Harrison is accessible via Bus lines 38, 45, 55, 92, Portland Streetcar, and MAX.

Will there be parking at Holladay for guests?
There are no reserved parking spaces for guests.  Metered street parking is available at the guest's expense.  Holladay is accessible via the MAX Blue, Green, and Red lines at 7th and Holladay, and via Bus lines 6, 8, 70, and 77.

No. However, the landlord does discount parking to TriMet employees working out of the Holladay Street location who reserve monthly parking at one of the lots they manage.  Details here.

Is there bike parking at Holladay?
There is uncovered bike parking outside, and bikes may be parked inside as long as they don't block walkways.

Is there bike parking at Harrison?
A covered, secure bike parking area is available to TriMet employees only on parking level P2 which can be accessed from 1st Avenue.  The parking is accessible via employee ID badge and has space for 40 bikes on a first come, first serve basis.  Day lockers are also available in the space.  Additional unsecured bike parking is also available on the Harrison property for all tenants.

Today, there's a personnel gate opposite the corner of SE 17th and Mall that lets you get to the bus maintenance building without passing through the yard itself. Will there be a pedestrian crossing at 17th and Mall after the project is completed?Yes, there will be a pedestrian crossing at this location, between the bus yard and the north end of the SE 17th Ave and Holgate Blvd MAX station. Prepare-PURGE-Pack

Will the file cabinets and bookcases moving to Harrison Square be cleaned after they're moved and before they get filled again?
Yes.  A janitorial service will handle this. You, however, are responsible for emptying bookcases and file cabinets by the deadline: 7 a.m. January 9.

No.   However, the workstations are being cleaned and the file cabinets and bookcases will be cleaned when they are moved into the renovated Center Street building in February 2014..

How should staff code their timesheets for move day, since they will be leaving the office at noon?
Code the hours after noon, away from the office, as administrative leave ONLY if you are scheduled to work on Friday.

How do I move something that needs to be secured?
Let your Move Representative know that you have an item to move that requires additional security.  The Moving Together team will address each situation on a case by case basis.

What is the earliest I may arrive to work on the Monday after the move?
Staff can arrive at 8 a.m. or later.  For safety and liability reasons, staff will not be able to access the building before 8 a.m.

Yes. If you label your floor mat, it will be moved.

Can I telecommute on moving day, after my old workstation closes but before the new one is available?
As always, telecommuting arrangements should be discussed with your manager. No interruptions are expected to TriNET or the network.  However, remote access via VPN key fob will not work while the PC is disconnected, between noon Friday and 8 a.m. Monday.

When should staff start packing?
Packing supplies will arrive 12/7 with a supplement delivery of packing supplies on 12/20. Until that time, staff should focus on purging items in their personal space as well as common areas, taking personal items home by 12/14, and archiving documents by 12/21.

Will TriMet be providing boxes for staff to take their personal items home in?
No. Move Representatives are setting aside boxes shipments have been received in for that purpose.

Do I need to pack my file cabinet, bookcase, or storage cabinet for the move?
Yes. Most storage units will be repurposed into a new location and no longer reside with the employee who is currently using them.  Additionally, all storage units moved to Harrison will be cleaned inside and out.

When will we receive packing instruction and training?
Brown bag sessions are scheduled for December 5th at Holladay, and December 6th at Center Street.  Additionally, Move Representatives will have received training on December 4th.

Will the copier, printer, fax, scanner, or plotter machine that I currently use be moving with me or my group?
Not necessarily.  Equipment is being placed to best meet the needs of the new spaces.  For that reason, you may not be using the same piece of IT equipment after the move that you are using now.

How many outlets are in the new workstations?
2 duplex power receptacles and 1 data receptacle.

Where will coats be stored?
The workstation towers have coat hooks in them.  Workstations without a tower will be provided a coat hook that goes on the wing wall.  Offices will have hooks.

Can I still make changes to my workstation configuration?
The furniture order has already been placed for Harrison Square.  If you have a concern now about the selection you've made, please contact your Move Rep, who will contact the Moving Together team.  After the move, there will be a 90-day moratorium on any workstation changes to allow for "settle-in" and punch list time.

Can I still relocate my slat rail within my workstation?

Can I still make a change to the number of monitor arms I have?
Yes.  Extra monitor arms will be available for staff who have been authorized an additional monitor after the employee workstation form was completed.

What choices will future employees have? For example, if I leave TriMet and someone else fills my job, will s/he have to live with my workstation choices?
New employees will work with their managers/directors and Facilities to change their workstations.  In general, they will have the same choices you have now, but schedules and budgets may require that they wait a bit for certain changes to their workstations.

If I chose a mobile pedestal unit (box-file, box-box-file, file-file) and it turns out I don't need it, what do I do?
The 90-day moratorium on post-move changes includes furniture removal.  If the moratorium is over and you really don't have a use for the mobile pedestal unit, Facilities personnel can take it away.

    We need to have all the selections now because we need to see how those selections will stack up against our budget for new furniture for both Harrison Square and Center Street.

    Does my monitor mounting location have to be at the center of the work surface?
    No. It can be located along work surface any place there is an inch gap from the panel.  We will gather this information in the next round.

    There will be several stools scattered throughout the floor for shared use.

    Interns, consultants, contractors and temporary employees as well as employees who have their main workstation at another location can use hotel workstations provided for just such occasions.

    Will there be overhead storage?
    No. With lower workstation walls, we will not have room for overhead storage. However, there is a slated shelf option, as well as a storage tower option with two workstation layouts

    Can I have a sit/stand workstation?
    Fixed sit/stand workstations are provided to some with an ergonomic adjustments and at the discretion of the department for “comfort adjustments”.     Work Environment: General

    Does the building have a "holiday schedule"? I know some buildings close their lobby on certain holidays (i.e. Christmas, Memorial Day, etc.) and you can only access as an employee. I wasn't sure what holidays the building observed, if any.
    Our building Lease indicates HSQ is closed for “legal holidays” – it doesn’t list which ones –that just means that those days are treated like a Sunday - the building is secure and they are not providing HVAC or other building services.  If TriMet employees have access via the badge system on holidays – then they would have access to the space (albeit without air or heat).  The landlord will always provide air and heat on off days, but at TriMet’s expense.

    How do I order new business cards?
    Creative Services is taking new business card orders now.  Keep in mind that you will retain your old phone number, so only the physical address is changing.  If you absolutely must have new business cards on the first day at Harrison, please submit your form, found here, by 5 p.m. on Friday, December 21st.  Please note:  Mailstop is optional on the business card form!  If you place an order after the 21st, please be prepared to wait two weeks for fulfillment.

    A contest was held to choose the theme for each building.  Harrison Square conference rooms will be named after rivers.  Center Street conference rooms will be named after mountains.

    Is there an outdoor smoking area available at Harrison Square?
    Harrison Square is a non-smoking building and no smoking is allowed in the parking garages, at the main entrance or on the plaza levels.  However, there is a designated smoking area lcoated off of the P2 parking level in the SE corner.  Signage is placed to direct smokers to an outdoor smoking patio at the SE corner of the property.

    For people getting SoupCycle deliveries, you will need to notify SoupCycle of your change in delivery address. I don’t see an option for “effective date” so you’ll need to do it close to the move date.  Log in to SoupCycle Account: https://www.soupcycle.com/order-soup/account/ Go to “Change my billing address or delivery address”.

    More information on business cards will be distributed soon from your Move Representative; since all phone numbers are staying the same and TriMet's mail is centralized before distribution, most business cards can still be used as-is until new business cards are confirmed/required.

    The PC training room will move from Center Street on 1/24/13 and become available again at Holladay on 2/4/13.

    At Harrison, the break room sink is immediately adjacent to the mothers' room, and there is an outlet to plug in a refrigerator.  At Center, there is a coffee nook adjacent to the mothers' room, and there is an outlet to plug in a refrigerator. posted 12/3/12
    Can we put anything on the windowsills (like plants)?
    Both buildings will have window sills, which should be kept clear of items so that the windows and sills can be properly cleaned and maintained.  TriMet's office standards will specify that personal items such as small plants will be contained within the spatial limits of each individual's workstation. posted 12/3/12
    Is there a dress code at Harrison Square?
    Current dress practices are not changing due to the new location, so no.  You can wear the same things you're wearing now.

    There is no break in availability of conference rooms at Holladay Street. However, keep in mind that if you are moving to Harrison Square on January 11th or 25th you'll want to relocate your meetings to the new location after that date.

    Around mid-March, 2013.  The conference room can be used by all the tenants in the building, so it will be scheduled through the landlord, not Outlook.

    The conference room on the 6th floor of Harrison is available immediately.  However, since it is shared by the tenants of the building, it is scheduled through the landlord, not Outlook.
